So, I’m getting sort of used to missing an arm, it’s actually kind of cool. I feel like a war vet and stuff, you know? Now I can be all, “yeah, I lost it in the battle of Velar, wrestling with a cyber-mammoth. Get on my level, noob.” Or maybe, “oh, this? I was duelling with a master samurai. You think I look bad? You should’ve seen him. When he had anything left.” Or..I could just say fell into a woodchipper. Uhm..my stub’s pretty cool anyway.
I won’t have it too long. Theo got in touch with a friend of his from way out wander named Derrick, and he’s going to get me a robot arm! Well, I guess the proper term would be ‘cybernetic replacement’, but come on, robot arm just sounds so much cooler. I may be kind of crippled at the moment, but I convinced Dad to take me down to explore this glade I heard about while I was in town the other day, this guy said he’d lost his cat there. Theo got some more details for me, Alyssa told him he said they were merely cutting through when his cat took off chasing after some weird light. Weird is probably my middle name in some language, so naturally, I want to check it out.
I’ve done a little bit of my own research on the spot, too! (thank you GoNet!) Normally, a glade is just an open space in a forest, right? But THE Glade is apparently if most of the forest was like that..but with a weird, intricate layout. From what I’ve gathered, it’s kind of like a video-game level, come to think of it. You know, with all these cool creatures you only see in the area? Not to mention, I’ve heard there’s a ton of loot hidden around too, left by ancient travelers and fallen ones alike. Like I said, the place is massive, so I imagine it must be pretty tough making it back out..at least, to those without one of these babies. My GoWatch can fill out an automap of any area I explore as I explore it, so all I should have to do is head in, find the cat and whatever it was chasing, then follow my trail back the way I came.
Well, that’s the plan anyway. Things tend to not always work out so easy, if yesterday’s anything to go by. Speaking of videogames, I should start a petition for one-handed controllers to be a thing. Sure, Dad’s got some really old stuff that only needs one hand to play, and while yeah, Asteroids and Millepede are fun and all, I really miss my polygons. In the meantime though, I guess it’s back to dots and ghosts for me.
Come to think of it..I haven’t really told you a lot about me, have I? I don’t think there’s really a lot to it. My name is Quinn, I’m an adventurer in training. I love adventuring. I don’t really have a lot of friends. Really, there’s just the RUTH unit in town...but she's pretty cool! I don’t know why I don’t have any other friends, I guess I haven’t really been looking. Most ‘possibles’ I don’t really know how to approach, sometimes I’ll try showing off a cool trick with my gun, or doing some acrobatic stuff to try and impress, but usually it doesn’t go much farther than that. That, and everyone just seems kind of busy all the time...
*clears throat*
Uhm, some more trivial things, I also love videogames, as you can probably guess. Theo got me hooked waay back, he kind of collects them from every place he visits. Surprisingly, they really don’t get that much different from world to world, at least those with similar technological advancements. No virtual reality stuff is made on Glorius, for example, but we do have basketball!
. . .
Well journal, I’m getting pretty hungry, so I think I’ll cut it off for now. Noodles sound nice. I’m off to make some chow, so until next time - ciao!
